CIV Monza 1.5.2011

01.05.2011

The second race of the Italian Championship CIV was held in Monza on legendary circuit near Milano. At the beginning we were told that the weather would be cloudy and rainy all the weekend. On Friday the first training rides were quite fast, Míra finished with the second best time, which was very encouraging. The circuit in Monza is very fast itself and the engine power is very important there. Míra was loosing on the first rider during the maximum speed nearly 8km, which was quite lot.

The qualification trainings on Sunday were on wet track, so the engine power was not so important that time. Míra was getting faster lap by lap and hit the right stride, which was confirmed by the fastest time. Into the second measured training got the track dry. So Míra was again on the second position. He reached the time 0,4sec behind the first rider record of CIV. On Sunday morning in the warm-up Míra ensured his speed from the previous day and received the fastest time. The start into the Sunday´s race was well done and Míra was on the first position before the first curve. He was sure, that he has not to fight for the position. In the first more technical parts of the circuit Míra kept his position but during the long straight he lost the position. During next three laps there were some very nice changes among the first three riders, but Míra learnt that on this very fast track in Monza he is loosing his position on maximal speed. So he decided to let the riders overtake him during the straights, so he was taking advantage of leeward behind the rider ahead of him, so he was still very close and sure that he will be in fights for the stage. He was considering his attack, but finally decided to try it in the last curve in Parabolica, where he overtook both riders on brakes. He was leaving the curve as first, but on the finishing straight in the very last moment he was overtaken by 0,1sec and finished on the second place. In the kings park in Monza Míra received a silver medal and secured his leader position in the Championship.
